Sint Niklaas Commemoration
550 Squadron Commemoration May 2018
A selection of photographs from the Commemoration Service in Sint Niklaas, Belgium on 25th May 2018. A Memorial Plaque to the crew was unveiled beside the graves giving details in English and Flemish about the crew and the crash.
Belgium Civil and Military dignitaries took part, and local school children placed flowers in memory of the aircrew. Family members of the Bruty and Jarvis family had travelled to attend the ceremony. Representatives from Sint Niklaas and Westerlo also attended.

School children laid a flower to each grave as a lament was played on the pipes.
The Wreaths.
The new Memorial Plaque unveiled.
To the left-hand side of the Dukelow crew graves is the grave of three French pilots killed in 1940. A wreath was also laid to this grave by a French delegation.
There is a rifleman, H W Chipperfield, killed in 1944 buried to the right of the air-crew graves.
The Pipes led the return from the grave-side.
