550 Squadron Crew

P/O T M J Shervington and Crew

P/O Shervington and crew were posted to 550 Sqdn from RAF Station, Elsham Wolds, w.e.f 15/3/44:

Lancaster ME556 was lost on 6 June 1944 returning from the operation following the start of the D-Day landings. They were shot down by AA fire coming down just outside Paris. Six of the crew are buried in France. One, Sgt Hall, was never found and is commemorated on the wall at Runnymede. There is memorial plaque to Sgt Hall at http://newmp.org.uk/detail.php?contentId=8558.
